Not a good start.
What I liked: The new workroom. The diversity of the contestants. The new female judge.
What is I didn't like:
Bland host. Bland mentor. The male judge, trying way too hard to be funny.
The fashion: A good, not great runway. I think I'd have gone with the other top look for the win.
Now to the worst of the worst: O M G they didn't send that blue bodysuit home. I get the feeling that it was because she is nice and nobody likes the WASP princess. Another decision like that and I may not continue.

So, now we know what we already expected. No one wants Kate the stomper, as Renee called her. Personally, I don't know why she is on the show -- every week! It's like the producers use her to create drama.
She is not a good model. She can barely walk, and I notice that Garo was teaching her how to walk.

Re: Tessa
It's true that they need to design for all body shapes. On the other hand, they only have a short amount of time to work and they all get the same amount of money, when their models need more fabric and more attention to their shapes.
There have been designers who were able to fit their plus size models, but they are few and far between. Plus, I noticed that if they had a choice, the plus size models aren't going to be the first choice, as we saw on this episode.
Either they give everyone a plus size at the same time, or they allow more time and money, so the designer can present a decent final look.

We agree that this runway was less than inspiring. None of the looks said elegance to us.
We liked the blue blouse a lot. But the bottom was terrible. Even with a good skirt, while we would like it and think it lovely, we wouldn't call it elegant.
Hester's was bad, though her concept had merit. I think she was playing the game appropriately and the way the producers would like it played; with immunity she experimented and tried something she (or the other designers) wouldn't under normal circumstances.
What does puzzle us is why immunity is still in effect. As we recall when it used in the past, they reached a point where it was no longer available. We thought that point was reached earlier in the season; but we may be remembering it incorrectly.
Plus models can be tricky. They do take extra fabric; or good planning. Believe me, we know. My wife is both tall and plus sized; and I'm definitely not svelte. Personally, we liked the method on the last Lifetime season where models of all sizes were used and they were randomly assigned to the designers.

I made special note to watch her walk and no, she isn't good. It seems that the new Bravo version is trying to bring model drama back. That was an important feature in the first few seasons. For a while there was an after show segment called Models of the Runway. Lifetime ditched the all of that. No more random model draws, stealing each other's models, so on and so on.

You guys need to take another, closer look at Bishme's blouse. Pay particular attention to the bust area.

I'm wondering why Christian didn't call out the designers for their lack of elegance.
Did she really try? To me, it seemed as if she glued on some too small pasties and called it a day.
No, there were still ten designers in the competition, and the immunity is used much longer than 5 episodes in a show.
I get why they can't have all plus sized models, so they should do it like they did in the past, barring the unconventional challenge.
Switching gears, why do they seem to keep Kate? She's been on every episode.

Well, that makes sense. They are using Kate for drama.

Bishme's look
Confession: I have a shirt made from that same material. I haven't worn it. I bought it online from the Limited. It arrived, and it was too big and just unflattering.
As I look at the blouse, it appears the model isn't wearing a bra and the shirt is rising a bit from her walking down the runway. I would need to see a different angle to determine whether or not it was poorly constructed.

She was not wearing a bra, which was obvious when she was moving. Maybe that is the bigger issue. The girls were not displayed well and moving all over the place. It was just so distracting.

What have these contestants been drinking and smoking lately? Another runway fail from almost everyone.
The only look I thought worthy of a top three placement was Bishme. His white pants especially were really good. That blouse isn't my style but I liked it.
I think the wrong team was in the bottom. I would have put Lela, Sebastian and Tessa there. All three of these looks were so boring, Lela especially. I would have eliminated her. Mall fashion.
I didn't hate the bottom teams looks. In fact, I though Jamal's was one of the better ones. He tried to do something different with swimwear. Lets face it, most people who go to the beach don't actually swim, and that swimdress? was really cute. Venny's dress wasn't right for Morena, and it was not an evening look, but a sundress for a young woman? Yes, please. The losing look was bad, but if her team were not in the bottom Renee would still be around.
Now for the winning team. Bishme already discussed. Garo's was OK, nothing special. (Takes a deep breath) Hester's swim suit. OMG I cannot believe Morena liked it and that it won. Didn't they see that it was droopy poopy in the bottom? Those lace up sides? They called Venny's juvenile; this looked a 10 year old's bathing suit. And what was up with that cover up? I had to drink anther glass of wine after that one.

It was a step above the last few comps, but that's not saying much.
He should have won.
I think there could have been two bottom teams.
Still, don't get the yellow cutout over the boobs. I wasn't mad at the rest, and Marnie said it best that it just wasn't the right look for the client.
Kate took down another one.
Yeah, what was up with that coverup. It didn't seem as if it was constructed well, and who can't construct a coverup?
Once I look at the suit for a second time, it doesn't look that bad, but it's not a winner. I think Salty Tessa had a good point.

Other thoughts:
They used two plus-size models, when the client is not plus-size. I'm just trying to find the reason behind it. If Baccarin was really going to wear the clothes, what was the point of showing them on a totally different body type?
Will there be plus-size men next week?
I guess I can't get off the Kate train, as I see she has taken down another designer. I guess they lose their inspiration knowing they have her. It also must suck for Kate. I'm sure she wishes she could do better, and I think the only reason she puts herself through this is for the money. Still, I wonder what made her think she could do runway work.
I saw some poor construction in Sebastian and Hester's droopy bottom look. In Sebastion's top, he has seams right in the front. Too tacky and amateurish.
Sebastian's seams
I also hate Tessa's bitchy attitude. People need to quit doing her work.

More thoughts. . .
These people were designing for American tourists and not Rio natives. The look that Morena had on her face was the same look that I had. It was all mostly crap!
The colors, the outfits, everything... it was Mostly UGLY. It should have been the other way around, with Mostly Cool clothes.
Here's what they have to ask themselves. Would I wear this myself? Would I wear this to the beach? Would I wear this to lunch in my city? Would I wear this outfit out at night??? It really is that simple.
The fact that they are designing for Rio de Janeiro does not mean that it has to automatically look tacky as heck.
Why did they all choose the same colors? That was stupid as heck too, especially when the color combinations were ugly. Plus, cohesion doesn't have to be so matchy-matchy. We don't all dress in clothes that match all the events we attend. I think I blame Marnie for putting that bug in their ear.
On the other hand, they are working under a lot of pressure. What is up with these one day challenges? My goodness! One day is not enough to film, sketch, shop for fabrics, sew, model fit, and hair/makeup.

Kate takes another one down, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
I have to agree about the plus size models not being best for this challenge.
Hester's suit looks OK from the front angle. It was the side lace ups that I hated. Along with the cover up and droopy poopy bottom.
I am definitely not a fan of the one day challenge. I get that the stress causes drama, so good for TV. I'd rather see better fashion.

We thought the correct teams were in the correct places. We liked both Hester and Bishme's looks, probably Bishme's a bit more than Hester. We didn't have a problem with the lace ups. But the bottom was pouty. We think she didn't get elastic into it which caused it to hike up and causing it to pouch.
We see the point about Jamal's. But, in our view, if you are making a swimsuit you have to be able to swim in it and that drape down between the legs would have been deadly, (literally. It could tie up your legs). If it had been removable, we wouldn't have had a problem.
We also hate the one day challenges. Yes, the designers are supposed to be under pressure and to manage their time. But we also want good looks, well executed. Pushing that fast you have to compromise your design to fit the time frame.
The same color palette was weird. We didn't hate it. But ending up with the same colors was just weird.
