Not a good start.
What I liked: The new workroom. The diversity of the contestants. The new female judge.
What is I didn't like:
Bland host. Bland mentor. The male judge, trying way too hard to be funny.
The fashion: A good, not great runway. I think I'd have gone with the other top look for the win.
Now to the worst of the worst: O M G they didn't send that blue bodysuit home. I get the feeling that it was because she is nice and nobody likes the WASP princess. Another decision like that and I may not continue.

Yes, the curse strikes again, and I don't think it was fair for everyone to keep their same models. With that said, Jamal is rapidly losing favor in my eyes.

I got it confused too, so we're on the same page with the wrong name.

I absolutely agree. I didn't see one look that even deserved to be in the top 3.
It reads Party Central to me and not something I can see women wearing.
Garo's look
So agree. I mean where was the fashion? Who wants to look like a miller? Tess was talking smack about Hester's outfit looking too costumey, but did she take a look at her own design? Her outfit was in the top three because her model looked like an Eastern Bloc goat herder. And look! There's a hidden pocket for my mace!!
With that said, I have a love/hate feeling about Tessa's look. I sort of liked her look—I could see it working in some medieval-themed game, but on the other hand, it wasn't fashion, unless I'm an Easter Bloc goat herder.
Hester's outfit was very plastic/cheap. It looked like an arts and crafts project, but I was able to imagine someone wearing that in a club.
Hester's look
I don't think it looked cheap or poorly made more like church going, Pentecostal woman, attending services at some storefront church in the hood, with the exception that those ladies don't wear pants.
Venny's look
Nothing was worth remembering. Trust and believe -- no one is running to go buy any of those looks.

He's a pest. In one way, I'm sad to see Rakan leave, since he always seemed to clap back at Christian.
Christain: It's red
Rakan: It's Bordeaux
Christian: It's red
Christian: What are you doing eating? Do you have time to eat? When I had a showing, I didn't eat for three days
Rakan: I can believe it.

Yes, Rakan was not intimidated by Christian AT ALL. Love him for that.

Our thoughts on the video game episode.
First, I don't play video games. I don't like them and never have. My wife likes them, but doesn't play a lot of the new ones. (She says she doesn't have the fast twitch muscle response to keep up with them. )
We think the designers were put in an impossible situation. They were told to create fashion but not to make costumes. Video game characters, like comics and anime, are larger than life individuals. They stand out and generally wear exaggerated looks. Almost any design that would work for a video game character is going to read costume.
That said, we liked Hester's. Yes, it was more fashion for a club or, as the character resembled, the ski slope. Yes, exaggerated from those. But it was supposed to be a comet surfer or something like that.
Tessa's was very practical, but was it supposed to be a video game character. I found it odd that such a character would be of interest in a video game. But, as I said above, I don't play games. Maybe that is an active genre of video game.
Garo's was cliche, but did fit the challenge; kind of. Again, it was mostly a costume.
Rakan's, if it had looked like his illustration, would have been nice. But it was top-heavy and poorly made. The blue and white thing was just, meh. It could have represented something faith-based without being so obvious. It was very poorly designed.
Rakan did stand up to Christian. Why Christian decided to argue with him about red vs. bordeaux. Granted, both were correct. It was red and it was bordeaux. The latter is a subset of the former. But Christian should know that red is a notorious color to blend and match. You can't just snatch up three reds and expect them to go well together. (Yes, the same is true for other colors. But in our experience red is worse than the others. )
Overall, while the concept of this challenge was interesting, I think it was constrained which effectively sabotaged all the designers.

Good points, Costumers. I don't play video games either.

To me, if a person has imagination, then they should be able to make it work. They consider themselves "designers" then that's what they should do. A few seasons ago, there was a challenge to create an Avant Garde look using Shopkins Shoppies as inspiration. Essentially, this challenge was similar, one is for a cartoon and another for a video game. The Shopkins challenge produced better designs, imo.
The winner
Another look

Another
I can see it working on some farm/medieval theme game.
I agree. I didn't see how the judges were all so ga-ga over it.

Christian was turned on by it. First signs of life from him. 😏

LOL. I'm sure the whip was the element that tipped the scale for him, because he can take that thing and whipped those lazy, break-taking designers in shape.

Another underwhelming runway. This challenge is where any designer should do well. Elegance. Not many had it.
I didn't love any of the looks. Jamal and Venny had decent, if unmemorable, looks. Sebastian and Garo, same.
I didn't like Lila's at all. It looked cheap and the shape was strange. Tessa's was boring AF.
Bishme, I get why they kept him, but that look was awful. They kept praising the blouse, which was old lady and kind of vulgar at the same time. The bust was so unflattering. The breasts, which were clearly visible, were kind of pushed out at a weird angle and smooshed down.
Finally, Hester. I don't think any look has pissed me off more in the history of the show. It was like she was laughing at everyone because she could do anything she wanted. Pasties could have worked but glued to her top and looking like fortune cookies? Just hell no. I wish they had revoked her immunity and sent her smug ass home.

Where was Christian's big mouth? This time, we could have used him getting into the designers' head about their designs and fabric choices?
They really need Dapper Dan.
I agree. I went to sleep, woke up, and watched whatever was still playing. No need to rewind.
Yes! Plus, it made the model's hips larger. I didn't mind the toilet paper until someone pointed it out. Still, the shape was off, and what is happening with the bodice?
Lila's design
I didn't mind the blouse, but it wasn't elegance. What ruined the look was the skirt or whatever.
Bishme's look
I really wanted Hester's model to throw her under the bust by saying- That bitch glued these pasties to my nipples instead of sewing them in!!!
I can only imagine removing those pasties hurt like a motha...
