I'm surprised we haven't talked about this yet on a movie database, but I compare what's going on in Hollywood right now to a car wreck I don't want to watch but can't look away from.
I mean..... it's pretty much been an open "secret" that Hollywood is rife with pedophilia, transactional sex , both wanted and coerced , sex traded for roles and opportunities, and a lot of it fell on deaf ears for years. Or people outside that sphere it didn't directly affect chose not to care. It's been amazing how many women have come out with accusations against Weinstein , all the stories about him forcing himself on these women. I'm not saying I believe every account(I don't , I think a lot of these stories are missing critical details) but I do believe he used his power to try to get sex from young actresses with a promise of stardom, and in many cases he wouldn't take no for an answer . I also think the women who agreed to sleep with him to get famous are strategically quiet about it. Now he's in sex rehab getting his libido exorcised like that's going to help anybody.
The Kevin Spacey reveal today hit me the hardest not because I didn't think he was gay ( that's about as shocking as Ricky Martin) but because he tried to bury the story of him soliciting an underage boy by coming out. That's really pissing off the LGBTQ crowd, and rightfully so. He really thought we'd be like " O you poor thing, forget the kid that almost got assaulted, how are YOU doin?" He needs to ask the Scientologists for narrative changing lessons.
Anyway, If this is just the tip of the iceberg I don't think we want to see what sordid tales lie underneath the surface. The Oscars are gonna be real awkward this year, folks.

You know, the thing that bugs me is the fact these pigs felt (and probably still feel) they are entitled to do this stuff. Over the course of my days, I've been in a management position with many people reporting to me at various levels for over 30 years. I can tell you I NEVER even THOUGHT about groping anyone, let alone using my position to tell someone I would promote them or do them favors in exchange for sexual acts. I promoted several women in my day, sometimes to the disapproval of others. The only thing I gave a damn about was if these people, men or women, were capable of the position and responsibilities I was training them. And yes, sexual harassment and favors were exchanged in 4 companies I called home over those 30 years. Two women I knew were particularly willing to spread their legs to move up. They were both astonished when I rebuffed them (and they WERE gorgeous). But once you sell your soul like that, there's really no going back. At the end of the day, you've got to be able to live with yourself. Apparently in Hollywood, morals and scruples are pretty cheap.
Now, don't get me wrong. Dating within the work place I have no issues with. Many people meet, date, and marry people from the workplace. Hell, my wife and I are an example. But we were friends for over a year and had gone out on many 'work functions' and parties and late nights at the bar together, and with others, before something finally happened. And that didn't occur until AFTER we had been transferred into different locations. And still we kept it under wraps for 3-4 months. Mainly because if it didn't work out, we didn't want to be the subject of the inevitable workplace rumors and gossip. Honestly, in today's super-charged atmosphere, i don't know if our relationship even gets off the ground.
But these people make me sick. Especially that POS Weinstein. And Spacey going after a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD? Put him right there with Woody Allen and Roman Polanski. The under-age sex is really going to end some careers. I just wonder if Corey Feldman will name names, and be credible.
I see now that Netflix has canceled HOUSE OF CARDS - and claiming they decided months ago this would be the final season. Maybe that's true. But the timing is very suspicious. I mean, less than 18 hours after the Spacey story breaks? Coincidence? Maybe. I don't mind though, as the show had become absurd of late.

That wasn't me conflating anything. That was an example showing how you conflated two different things, but removing the media-frenzy aspect or whatever it might be called, so that hopefully you'd understand. Sadly, you evidently still don't. It seems you're blinded by scandal, or something.
Because you started with a case of statutory rape, or at least attempted, and then switched to pedophilia which is not the same thing. (And at least so far as I've heard, there are no accusations of actual pedophilia from Hollyweird in these situations.) That was YOUR mistake, and being (probably fake) outraged about it doesn't change it.

Do you really think "debate teams" actually prove anything factual? Wow, that's SO childish. And sounds like you don't really understand much about how it works. Do you also believe "professional wrestling" is real?
It does fit the pattern, though. You think that if you can score enough "points" for "style" etc while arguing that 2+2=5, you must be right. When you were a kid, did you think you won because you said something with your arms crossed? Actually you probably still think that NOW.

You've never seen a collegiate debate. As a matter of fact, based on how you act on here, I doubt you've left your house without a helmet on.

Another arms-crossed shout from the kids table. Hi-Q at least had the advantage of... reality.

You are well past beginning to bore me.

I'll be honest - I can't even get through more than the first sentence of this idiot's posts anymore. It's clear he's either one of the world's dumbest humans, or a troll. Either way, I'm about ready to stop engaging him in discussion. Mainly because he doesn't discuss, he babbles while tossing together terms and ideas he doesn't and/or refuses to comprehend - but thinks stringing them together and combining them with his 'imagination' somehow makes him clever. Unfortunately for him, it proves the exact opposite.

"Sez you." And is that supposed to matter, or something?

Anyway...
It will be interesting to see how far this goes. HOUSE OF CARDS has now suspended production of the now final season indefinitely.
My guess is they were thinking of ending HOC, but this made the decision pretty easy. I'll also speculate as to why the production has shut down, beyond what they've stated. First, they are probably re-writing scripts to make sure the ending is permanent, and leaves no doors open that there might have actually been an additional season or two. Second, because they need to check their insurance situation and liability issues/concerns for having Spacey on the set in the event another issues occurred. In other words, they need to get their legal status secured. Lastly, they will likely go and interview each and every crew member and actor and make sure they have no issues continuing to work with Spacey, and likely will have them sign a document saying so. Because now that Spacey's past behavior is out in the open, the production team would have even more liability for Spacey's unwanted advances.
After that, I think Spacey is done.
And now we have Dustin Hoffman and his accusers. The question isn't "Will there be anymore people who stand accessed". It's "who's the next one to fall?"
I must say, even though HOC has gone downhill the last couple of seasons, if they end up never finishing this season, or if they simply write out Spacey's character and try to wrap it up without him, it will be disappointing. But then again, we can't have Spacey running around harassing people.
It will be curious to see if Ben Affleck's issues negatively impact JUSTICE LEAGUE. People on the net are already calling Affleck "Buttman". I think his role as Batman will probably be recast no matter how JUSTICE LEAGUE performs.

Are you attempting to compare yourself to Albert Einstein ? Lmao
Maybe Albert Desalvo but definitely not Einstein.

Spacey is now toxic and I'm convinced his career is over. I just find it shocking how quickly someone can be ruined by allegations alone; seems like anyone in Hollywood with a semblance of an axe to grind can just throw out accusations and see any person's career and reputation destroyed immediately.
It's scary.

Harvey was just the levees breaking. Now we're seeing the flood because people know they can make their accusations public without fear of being blacklisted now. I say let the whole thing crumble if the corruption runs that deeply. There are plenty of young talented up and coming directors and producers and waiting in the wings to replace the incumbent scumbags.

Let's be clear, these people are not being ruined by 'allegations'. They are being ruined because their own behavior is coming back to haunt them. If someone (besides Weinstein) comes out and vehemently denies an allegation - I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. These people are giving APOLOGIES. Meaning they know damn well that their past behavior, likely with multiple people, makes a full throated denial impossible. These aren't people with an ax to grind coming out. These are the victims. The scary thing is how prevalent it apparently is with high ranking producers and stars - and we're nowhere near finished yet. This could be the biggest industry sexual harassment scandal since the Catholic Church. And the sickest thing is the target of much of these sick people were young men and women, and in some cases, minors/children.

I figured someone would make that mistake too, not really surprised it's you.
Can you not see how someone could quote someone - including Einstein - without claiming a direct comparison with them? If I quoted Einstein "The sky is blue" or "Nazis are evil" would you make the same ridiculous comment?

I tend to agree about the up and coming talent. All you have to do is take a look at the explosion of streaming TV shows. Many of them have very small budgets, but talented directors and producers are still making some great television. I wouldn't be at all disappointed if they transitioned to the major studios. At the very least, maybe we'd get a break from sequels, prequels, and super heroes - and actually see some originality on the silver screen again.
