Hi Travis,
Wondered whether we could add the following jobs :
Carpenter
Casting Associate
Hair Department Head
Thx
Mod edit:
You can request missing crew jobs in this topic. The new crew jobs have to be English and free of spelling mistakes. Please specify in which of the following departments each new job should be created: Directing, Writing, Editing, Camera, Production, Art, Costume & Make-Up, Visual Effects, Sound, Lighting, or Crew.
Kindly try to avoid making duplicates job requests (search the last few pages), or requesting crew jobs that are already added to TMDb.

I'm wondering if this thread is still the correct way to add Jobs to the database. It seems like the thread isn't being monitored very closely. Does anyone have any info on this?
Thanks!

I've got a few new job titles to be added to the Visual Effects Department:
('Cel Checker' could also be 'Finish Checker', and 'Cel Painter' could be 'Finish Animation')
For the Production Department:
For Directing Department:
For Editng Department:
For Writing Department:
('Inspired By' could be added to crew instead) ('Translation' would be used for translators who translated the original material so that it could be adapted into a film)
For Costume & Makeup Department:
For Lighting Department:
For Art Department:
(need a way to differ the from the storyboard artists on the main part of the show, and those on the opening/closing sequences) (wasn't sure if 'Background Designer' was what could be used instead of 'Background Artist')
For Sound Department:
(there's already a 'Sound Re-Recording Assistant', but no 'Sound Recording Assistant', and 'Additional Sound' could also be 'Additional Sound Recordist') ('Head Mixer' could also be 'Head Sound Mixer')
And for the general Crew:
('Assistant Location Scout' and 'Location Auditor' could be added to the Production Department instead) ('Character Model' would be for people who were used as the basis of a character in animation)
I also recommend moving 'Additional Music', 'Mix Technician', 'Mixing Engineer' & 'Score Engineer' to the Sound Department from Crew, and 'Makeup Effects' to Costume & Makeup from Crew.
I recommend maybe creating new departments for 'Location' and 'Stunts'.

One job that desperately needs to be added is ...
Associate Director (Department: Directing)
Why? Due to the frequency with which this job is required, as this job information can be found in many opening credits of Indian films. This is neither the job 'Assistant Director' (First, Second, ...), nor a '2nd Unit Director', which are also listed separately in the credits. Would the responsible people at tmdb please be so kind as to add this job to the selection options at CREW, because that would be very helpful.
Thank you very much!

Unfortunately I don't think it is a main priority, and is only updated every so often, when @travisbell has time.

OK, thanks. I was just asking it because it's a very long long time since it was updated and will be a lot of new jobs.

I'm not sure that works... can't one person model while another makes a model? which one is the modeler? Which one is modeling? I doubt anyone says that a person whom strikes a pose is a modeler, they must be modeling... so, Model would be a proper change in tense. Whereas, a modeler would be one who makes a model of something. Though, it might be said that a modeler could get tired of modeling without ever being photographed. Anyways, thought I'd say something to try and avoid future confusion.

@Nivekian I think the 'Modeling' in the database is for 3D modeling (I think it's in the 'Visual Effects' department). Perhaps they should change it to '3D Modeling', but also add 'Photographic Model' for photography models and 'Modeler' for 2D modeling.
'Modeler' means someone who makes models, and not another name for a photographic or art model.
Not sure if I understood your message, got confused reading it. Apologies if I just confirm what you've just said.

@ Jaydee Richardson You got the gist of it. Sorry I muddled it with my modal approach... Though, Model is still likely needed as they aren't always still life, some are Action Models, others are Character Models. Maybe these are good suggestions?

@Nivekian Not sure what you mean by 'Action Model', but for character models, perhaps 'Character Model' or 'Model for Character' could work.
Also thinking 'Art Model' could be used, in case the model posed for a painting or illustration, and not a photo. But, 'Photographic Model' should still be added.
Just realised 'CG Artist' is already added, so that covers the '3D Modeler' credit. Could be broken into 'CG Character Artist' and 'CG Enviroment Artist'. I think 'Character Modeler' and 'Enviroment Modeler' could then be used for non-CG modeling. Thus allowing 'Photographic Model', 'Character Model' and 'Art Model' for models. Credits would still be misused, probably. Not sure that could be avoided. People are still misusing the 'Cinematographer' and 'Director of Photography' credits.
Worth pointing out that CG modeling credits would be added to the 'Visual Effects' department. Non-CG stuff would be added to 'Art Department', and the model stuff could be added to 'Crew'.

'CGI Supervisor' needs to be deleted. 'CG Supervisor' is already a credit option (but needs to be moved to the 'Visual Effects' department). 'CGI Director' needs renamed to 'CG Director' in order to fit with the other 'CG' credits.
