Yes, they are. There are two stories on the Spanish board I’m on. The short one is that one of the boys knows a waiter that works at that coffee shop. The waiter called them when he/she saw HC.

The longer version is that this guy is a huge HC fan. See the third pic.

He knows that HC flew to the US and is staying in FL. He or one of his friends knows a waiter that works at that coffee shop. He was told that HC visit that place regularly. So to celebrate his or one of his friends’ BD, they booked a hotel near that place and told the waiter to call them as soon as he/she sees HC.

When you go to a coffee shop, you have to either wait in line to order or wait a few minutes for a waiter to take your order. Then wait a few minutes for them to make your drink. That whole process can take like ten minutes when it’s not rush hour. But in the vid/pics, you can see that HC’s drink was half.

So the boys got the call, got ready/were already ready, drove ten minutes to arrive just in time before HC was done with his drink.

The Himba: Namibia’s iconic red women

For years, an ancient tribe of semi-nomadic herders known as the Himba has drawn photographers to Namibia’s barren northwest.

As a result, the striking image of the Himba – if not their name – has become known far beyond the remote, unforgiving Kunene region where they eke out a living tending livestock.

The reason for this is otjize, a paste of butter, fat and red ochre – sometimes scented with aromatic resin – that Himba women apply each morning to their skin and hair, giving them a distinctive red hue. The sight of traditional Himba women has become an iconic image of Africa.

There has been much speculation about the origins of this practice, with some claiming it is to protect their skin from the sun, or repel insects. But the Himba say it is an aesthetic consideration, a sort of traditional make-up they apply every morning when they wake. Men do not apply otjize.

Although it is constantly jeopardized by development, including proposed hydroelectric projects, many Himba lead a traditional lifestyle that has remained unchanged for generations, surviving war and droughts.

These customs can be glimpsed today in the village of Omarumba, where around 20 people live under the leadership of chief Hikuminue Kapika. The Himba are open to outsiders coming to witness their way of life, but ask for a contribution from visitors in return – in this case, maize, coffee, tea, cooking oil and $25 donation.

As pastoralists, cattle are central to the lives of the Himba – just like their relatives, the Herero, who are renowned for the headwear of their women, which resemble cattle horns.

In the center of the village is a pen where young cattle, sheep and goats are held, while more mature animals are left to roam the periphery. Every morning, after the women have applied their otjize, they milk the cattle, before the young men of the village lead them out to graze. If there is nowhere to graze, the village may relocate, or the young men set up a temporary village with their stock.

The past year has been dry, says Uvaserua Kapika, one of the chief’s wives, and the village is concerned about the welfare of their livestock.

“Last year, it rain(ed) a lot and I was very comfortable. This year, I don’t know what to say… I pray to God as the animals are dying.”

The homes of the Himba, who number between 30,000 and 50,000, are round structures constructed of sapling posts, bound together to form a domed roof which is plastered in mud and dung.

The most important part of the Himba village is the “okuruwo,” or holy fire. Kept continuously alight, the holy fire represents the ancestors of the villagers, who acts as intermediaries to the Himba’s god, Mukuru. The chief’s is the only house whose the entrance faces the fire – all the others face away – and it is important for outsiders not to walk in the sacred area between his house and the fire.

At night, an ember from the fire is brought into the chief’s hut, then used to kindle the flames again in the morning.

Chief Kapika said he would regularly sit by the fire to interact with his ancestors. “We pray for rain to come and our cattle to multiply,” he said. “He must bless me with more followers as a chief.”

Said his wife, Uvaserua Kapika. “This is the place we pray to our God in heaven. In this place, you can get healed. Everything is performed here.”

Haters screamed blackface. Apparently, they started bothering the owner of the account, Michael David Peschka, and he deleted it. Stans do that every time. Most recently, they did it to the Canadian environmental scientist after it was reported that she was HC’s new gf and they did it to the boys that took HC and NV’s pic at the coffee shop last weekend too.

So now haters say that NV’s hiding that she was selling water to poor people who don’t have access to water.

For starters, the message states that she was promoting clean water. Clean water is promoted in many poor countries whether there is abundant water (dirty river) or scarcity of water.

Secondly, the issue wasn’t what she was doing in Namibia. The issue was the blackface, blacked-up, cultural appropriation. She had to explain why her body was painted from the neck down. It’s offensive to take something from another culture without permission or without explaining and thanking those from that culture.

Viscuso was in Namibia shooting the MTV show Exile in which the girls from My Super Sweet Sixteen were sent to a foreign country for a week. Apparently, the show was heavily criticized for using cultures of indigenous people as punishment for rich kids. That implies that indigenous cultures are awful. So the show was canceled after two eps. Viscuso’s ep never aired.

So NV’s explanation better say that the Himba gave their permission and it does. The explanation is that she was living with the tribe and they painted her skin as part of an initiation ceremony and acceptance into their culture.

It’s funny how black Euros, Americans etc. get offended by this just because they have the same skin color as the Himba tribe. They’re offended on their behalf while the Himba weren’t offended at all. As a matter of fact, the Himba will be highly offended if you decline to paint your body. Once the Himba accepts you as part of the tribe, you’re allowed to walk around freely and kind of do as you please.

Blog of two tourist: In the morning we woke to Kamahane urging us to get up ‘The women they are waiting since dawn… and my TOURISTS… are STILL sleeping.’ They wanted us to join them in their ceremonial hut, so that we could become official members of their tribe. Being part of a secret women’s circle felt powerful beyond words. We stripped off and the circle of women painted us in the red ochre clay, covering our bodies head to toe in it. Rubbing the earth onto their skin, they say is critical to their survival. Dressed in red clay as Himba women, stripped us of any distinction between white and black. They carefully dressed us in their tribal dress, using furs and skins to designate what rank we were and whether we had children or not. As soon as we were dressed we were presented to the rest of the women, and now an official Himba woman we were allowed to walk in between the huts and the fire place, so we were frog marched to the cattle yard. The chief of the village welcomed us and motioned us to drink from a special root shape bottle filled with cows milk. By drinking this we were sworn into the tribe. It was such a magical experience, walking around half naked yet proud and tall with no concerns.

Viscuso had to live with the Himba a week. You can only do that if they accept you. And the water promo happened when she was there. As part of the tribe, it was up to her to choose her look. She chose to not paint her face. That’s not uncommon among the Himba women, as can be seen in the pics below.

The Himba women in the pics don’t have the otjize on their faces. One of them also have something else on her neck. And their dreadlocks are not only their hair. They are created by using a mixture of ground ochre, butter and either goat hair or Indian hair extensions. You can’t get that out of your natural hair. Luckily, tribes tend to find blonde hair fascinating.

So black Euros, Americans etc. shouldn’t look at a pic and conclude it is offensive to the Himba. What’s offensive is calling someone racist or calling something cultural appropriation just because the person doing it is white. Know all the facts before you do that.

Exactly. The show Exile was heavily criticized, but nobody – creators, producers, financiers, distributors – apologized. Thirteen yrs later, the actress is forced to apologize, because she’s dating HC. She’s forced to apologize because someone else had that pic on their socials in 2021.

Off the top of my head, promote clean water could mean teaching people how to turn dirty water into clean water, ask for donations to fund projects that makes clean water accessible, urge water companies to donate bottle of water to the people or a water company feels generous and gives bottle of water to the people. The last two ones are good deeds to polish the image of a water company.

Since NV’s accepted as Himba and Himba is typical of Namibia and the clean water was for the people there, why wouldn’t she keep the ocher on to show she’s accepted as Himba? We knew little about Corona when it all started. Everybody had to be extremely careful. But now we know a lot more about it. We can also do a lot more now that we have rapid test and shorter quarantine. Health care workers won’t have more work, if everybody who wants to fly test, wear mask and quarantine.

That said, we shouldn’t forget pollution. I’d rather everybody fly commercial. If you have money, fly first or business class. But I’ll turn a blind eye during a pandemic. If I had money, I’d fly in private too.
