Henry Cavill Reveals His Enola Holmes Costume Is Actually Worse To Wear Than Superman's Suit

Is it fair to say Henry Cavill can work any look at this point? Aside from being picture perfect in a Superman suit, the Justice League actor has proved it again and again. I’m also talking about his long white mane in The Witcher and that time he made building a gaming computer in a tank topan erotic affair. And most recently, he let his curls run wild for his Sherlock Holmes role in the Netflix hit, Enola Holmes.

While speaking to Collider, Cavill admitted that his period-accurate three piece suits may have actually been worse than Superman’s costume.

“I think it was pretty uncomfortable for Consolata [Boyle], the costume designer. It’s like, ‘How am I going to make these clothes fit?’ Like, c’mon, this is not the right build for a Victorian man. You know what? It’s no different from trying to squeeze it into a tight blue suit. In fact, they fit a lot more easily.”

Of course he’s aware. He put on sexy music. lol He knows the geeks love the PC and the girls love him in a tank top. The only thing missing was him sipping from a glass of red wine. Maybe wink an eye and lick his lips. lol That would be too thirsty, IMO. But I hear some girls fantasize about that. angel

Did Millie Bobby Brown get starstruck over Henry Cavill on their first meeting for 'Enola Holmes'? Here's his answer

"I don't think she gushed. I think there was just big hugs and lots of excitement to be working on a movie together," Henry told the press.

"She was obviously complimentary about my previous work and I was complimentary of her previous work and for me it's just incredibly exciting to be working with such—I wouldn't even call her an up and coming star—she's already a mega star," Henry added.

Henry said she believes that MIllie is "only going to get bigger and better and for me it's just incredibly exciting to be working with her and to be a part of her journey."

Henry Cavill As Sherlock Holmes? It's A No From Me.

Someone in the Enola Holmes production team made the frankly ludicrous decision to cast Henry “Superman” Cavill as Sherlock Holmes. No. No. No. A thousand times, no.

Henry Cavill is simply Too Large and Too Hot to play a socially awkward, cocaine-injecting maniac who zips around England solving mysteries. You can visibly see his double-breasted jacket straining to contain his enormous human chest. I am aware that Enola Holmes is a speculative departure from the Sherlock Holmes canon as written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but like death and taxes, a few things in this world must be certain, and one of those things is that Sherlock Holmes cannot look like he spent the summer after his junior year being the shirtless model outside of an Abercrombie store.

This isn’t to say that Sherlock Holmes can’t be hot; as Benedict Cumberbatch has very well demonstrated, he can — and dare I say, should — be hot. But it must be a certain kind of hot — an angular, consumptive hotness that would make you feel weird about bringing him back to meet your parents for Thanksgiving.

The principle issue is Cavill’s own energy, which I believe is best explained with reference to the internet's favorite chart: Jock-Nerd versus Prep-Goth.

Sherlock Holmes falls squarely into the “goth-nerd” quadrant. He spends 90% of his time indoors smoking a pipe and wearing a bathrobe. By contrast, Henry Cavill is entirely “prep-jock.” He has the energy of a golden retriever and looks like someone who goes on jogs, drinks green smoothies, and throws a football around with his cousins in the backyard.

If you are one of those who is now furiously typing that Sherlock Holmes is athletic, that canonically he boxes and fences, and that the real Henry Cavill is a nerd who builds his own PCs, there are two important factors to remember. Firstly, fisticuffs and fencing are the goth-est possible sports, and secondly, regardless of who Henry Cavill is as a person or what he does in his free time, his undeniable vibe is “benevolent homecoming king who’s still nice to the weird girls.”

I also fully admit that I enjoy looking at Henry Cavill and I welcome him as a presence on my screen large or small.

But Henry Cavill is an outlier in his specific genre of attractiveness. He is a Giant Perfect Face guy, perfect for a role as, let’s say, Superman. He is a perfect Superman. You look at him and think, yes, alien with superpowers. His face in no way communicates “weirdo obsessed with blood.”

Louis Partridge Reveals Why He & Millie Bobby Brown Didn't Kiss In 'Enola Holmes'

“There was meant to be a kiss scene. Well not a kiss scene but like a little kiss on the cheek or something at the gates when I’m in my, you know, top hat about to go in to vote,” he told Australian publication Girlfriend. “But we decided on the day to leave it sort of up in the air or leave it hanging, which I think was a really good call. Because it’s sort of, you know, it’s ambiguous, we don’t really know.”

“And it also I think it’s quite innocent,” he continued. “It’s not one thing, that relationship, there’s elements of romance, obviously, but then they also get on really, really well. And so I really liked it.”

“You know, they don’t have to define sort of where they are and they just get on well together as people so I hope the internet received it like that, and not just like, ‘oh my god, they’re in love.’”

Millie Bobby Brown 'had to learn how to speak again' for major role post Stranger Things

MILLIE BOBBY BROWN, Netflix's Stranger Things star, revealed she had to learn how to speak with a British accent again for her role as Sherlock Holmes' little sister Enola, in her latest film.

“I had to learn how to speak again because I’m so used to speaking in an American accent!"

'Enola Holmes' Scores Strong Debut in Nielsen Streaming Rankings

The Stranger Things star's movie Enola Holmes debuted in a big way in Nielsen's streaming rankings for the week of Sept. 21. Netflix users watched nearly 1.17 billion minutes of the film, which also stars Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin. That's equivalent to about 9.63 million plays of the 121-minute movie and the biggest single-week viewing tally for an original streaming film since Nielsen started releasing weekly streaming numbers two months ago.

Enola Holmes ranks second for the week of Sept. 21-27 behind Ratched, which in its first full week of release commanded 1.63 billion minutes of users' time, according to Nielsen. That's up by 660 million minutes (a 68 percent jump) over the Ryan Murphy-produced show's opening week.

Makes sense when you see the illustration of Sherlock Holmes that accompanied all of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories that appeared in ‘The Strand’ Magazine from 1891.

Average looking people can’t catch a break, can they? Sherlock Holmes is not a good looking character. So why is someone like HC playing him? This isn’t white-washing. This is beauty-washing, hot-washing, sexy-washing. #StopTheHollywoodWashingMadness. rofl

Netflix Responds To Enola Holmes Lawsuit

Most recently Sherlock appeared portrayed by Henry Cavill in the Netflix film Enola Holmes, and it's that film that has seen the estate of Conan Doyle file a lawsuit against Netflix and other entities involved in the film, and now they have responded.

…attorney Nicolas Jampol, argues that ideas and emotions are not subject to copyright. The motion reads in part…

“In this case, even if the Emotion Trait and Respect Trait were original to copyright protected works, which they are not, they are unprotectable ideas. Copyright law does not allow the ownership of generic concepts like warmth, kindness, empathy, or respect, even as expressed by a public domain character — which, of course, belongs to the public, not Plaintiff.”

…the defendants are arguing that the character of Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain, and as such, specific nuances of the character, like his emotions are not subject to copyright.

The suit also goes a step further and claims violation of the Sherlock Holmes trademark, arguing that by calling the film Enola Holmes, there is an implication that the movie is endorsed by the Conan Doyle Estate. To that, the defendants argue that the estate of Conon Doyle is trying to use trademark law incorrectly, to do what copyright law is designed to do, but in this case cannot because of the previously mentioned public domain issue....

“Here, Plaintiff attempts to use trademark law to do what copyright law can no longer do: prevent others from freely using and adapting Sherlock Holmes in their own works. But this is not the function of trademark law. Allowing Plaintiff to prevent the creation of new works featuring public domain material runs contrary to the 'carefully crafted bargain' embodied in copyright law, and Plaintiff’s attempt to create a perpetual copyright should be rejected.”
