That can’t be coincidence. It takes WB roughly 90 minutes to come up with a distraction. Looks familiar. lol

Enola Holmes' Sam Claflin opens up on Love Island "embarrassment" on set

While the cast are all big Hollywood stars, the leading lady is still a teenage girl, which means that she is, of course, obsessed with Love Island. It also means that she wants everyone to be as obsessed about it as she is, which led to some humorous moments on set.

"I was very much on observer," Claflin told Angela Scanlon on BBC Radio 2 this morning (September 19). It was quite comical trying to witness Millie give Henry Cavill the lowdown on what happened this week on Love Island. It was quite, quite comical.

"He had absolutely no idea, and she obviously knew every little detail. I was thankfully left out of the embarrassment of kind of 'You've never seen it!'. I got to enjoy it without the humility."

It's not surprising that Henry Cavill has no interest in Love Island, he's far too busy tinkering with his gaming PC.

Lucky you. I might watch it when I get home, but I haven’t even left yet. NX should have released it last weekend instead of on a work/school day. Somethings are more important than ogling HC in films.

BTW, if I had that stupid reminder on, NX would have sent me the email at a very inconvenient time. At least now I know which midnight things are released.

Henry Cavill Tuning Out Millie Bobby Brown While She Talks About Reality TV Is the Biggest Sibling Mood

Cavill finally got to experience what it was like to have a sister in real life thanks to Brown, too. "I rolled my eyes a lot of times at Millie," he shares jokingly about filming with her, and really, that's all the proof we need to back up his statement that working with Brown was "a lot like having a sister."

Thankfully, Cavill shared a bit more, especially about their time in the makeup trailer. "I'm gonna be careful about how much I share; that's our sacred place of secrets," he adds as a caveat, before spilling (some of) the tea anyways. "She would often talk about reality TV, something which she is very, very well versed in," he says cheekily. "But I would often switch off when she was talking and then she'd keep on just talking at me until she realized that I wasn't listening anymore."

Plus, it looks like Brown may have tried to get Cavill in on the TikTok trend. "She also tried to get me do a lot of social media videos, whether [it's] dances or anything like that. I, of course, gave her a good strong 'no' with that one," he shares. Just picture it: Brown trying to get Cavill to do a dance challenge in the makeup trailer as Claflin puts on a deadpan face in the background.

Despite the hilarious sibling antics, "working with Millie has been such a fantastic experience," says Cavill. "Aside from the fact that she is enormous, fun, and very charismatic, she is extremely talented as well." And to add to his proud older sibling mode, he drops "She's also an incredible producer," reminding us all that yes, Brown both acted in and produced this huge project at just 16 years old.

"I am a fan of Millie Bobby Brown's, I think she's extraordinary," Cavill states. Sherlock Holmes certainly won't be taking centerstage in this film, and Cavill was more than happy to take on the role "because I get to support a character, an actor, like Millie Bobby Brown playing Enola."

Henry Cavill on playing Sherlock with emotions and returning as Superman

Cavill’s Sherlock is very much a supporting part in the film […] and it’s due to that his Holmes is a slightly different one.

And yet, it’s this very point – Cavill playing a Sherlock Holmes with emotions – that has led the Conan Doyle estate to sue Netflix,

“I mean, honestly, I don’t have a take on it,” says Cavill when I mention the lawsuit. “It’s a character from a page which we worked out from the screenplay. The legal stuff is above my pay grade.”

Still, I say, it must be the first time someone has sued for damages because of his acting.

“Haha, honestly, nothing surprises me any more.”

Congratulations on the movies 92% #Rottentomatoes score my dear friend. Is Henry Cavill Too Hot to Play Sherlock Holmes in 'Enola Holmes'? An Investigation

His jawline is simply too powerful, and we need to talk about that.

When I sat down to watch the new Netflix movie Enola Holmes last night, I anticipated a cute two hours featuring the lovely Millie Bobby Brown becoming an amateur detective in old time-y England. Sure, I knew Henry Cavill was in the film, and I knew he played her older brother, the famous Sherlock Holmes. But I didn't know that his hotness, his chiseled jaw and Superman good looks, would distract me so much that I wouldn't be able to tell you what the actual plot was. It got me thinking: Is Henry Cavill too attractive to play Sherlock Holmes? Follow me on this weird and slightly deranged journey.

I started to notice the problem in Henry's very first scene. Enola goes to fetch her brothers from the train station, and it's supposed to be a funny moment where they don't recognize her because they haven't seen her in so long. But I couldn't even really focus on the matter at hand, because my reaction upon seeing Henry in his Victorian England getup was something like this:

I was, simply put, stunned. And then he spoke, and I knew I was in for a rough time. The way he pronounced "Enola," with the slightest bit of disdain and putting the emphasis on the second syllable, really got me. For the rest of the movie, I was stuck in this same basic state of shock and awe. The way he laughed! The way he smirked! The slight smugness! Everything about it ruined me.

To be clear, this isn't me throwing shade at the other people in the movie. Millie is downright perfect as Enola. But the problem is that even the best of performances can't stand a chance against that jawline, you know? It's too powerful. Netflix cannot expect one person's brain to process Henry and anything else at the same time.

That got me thinking. How does this man compare to the other men who have played Sherlock in the past? Has this always been a problem, or is it just this particular instance? (Or the more horrifying and most likely option, is it just me?) I think of the typical actor who portrays this character as bookish and maybe even quirky looking. The first two former Sherlocks that come to mind are Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr. And yes, those two guys are not unattractive. Some would even say they are both also hot. But... I mean...

It's not even a fair competition. So that answers my earlier question: Yes, it is just this particular instance.

But that took me even further down my little spiral. I asked myself, in my most Carrie Bradshaw voice, can you be too alluring and too captivating to play a certain part? (Yes.) Is it Henry's fault that I want to swim in that little chin dimple so badly that I can't pay attention to any other part of this movie? (No.) And most importantly, am I going to have to rewatch Enola Holmes ten more times just to test my own theories and assumptions? (Yes. Definitely yes.)

Henry Cavill Is a Soft, Swole Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s ‘Enola Holmes,’ Because We Deserve This

Enola Holmes finds The Witcher‘s Henry Cavill in tailored clothing, his hair curled into gentle waves, playing a soft, pure, cinnamon roll version of Sherlock Holmes. And you know what? I think we’ve earned this. I really do. It’s been a tough year. The Hollywood gods looked at our suffering and said, “Here, have a famously ripped actor best known for playing literal superheroes and monster-slayers, but instead as a gentle, Victorian-era gentleman who just wants to be a good father figure.” And I thank them for that gift, because I needed it.

Cavill’s version of the world’s greatest detective isn’t quite what fans of this beloved character are used to seeing. He’s much larger, for one. A Sherlock Swolmes, if you will, as many have already dubbed him on Twitter. It is endlessly amusing to see Cavill’s massive shoulders in the kind of shirt and vest worn by the tiny men of the 1800s, which I can only assume were tailored specially to accommodate his bulging muscles. Everything he holds looks just slightly too small—letters, newspapers, magnifying glasses. The detective doesn’t don any of his famous costumes in this adaptation, which is probably for the best, because the idea of him being inconspicuous in any setting is laughable.

But beyond the physicality, there is also the personality. Sherlock Holmes, has, traditionally, been kind of a dick.

But in Cavill’s giant-yet-tender hands, Holmes is polite, mild-mannered, and non-confrontational. He’s not quite awkward, per se, but he comes close—particularly when it comes to showing affection toward his 16-year-old sister, Enola, played by Brown at her most charming.

It’s unconventional but Cavill makes it work. More than that, actually, he made me love this docile, emotionally constipated, very large man.

Don’t get it twisted, it’s not that this Holmes isn’t exceptionally intelligent. He’s just not an a*shole about it.

If you think taking away Holmes’s selfish nature would make him a boring character, never fear. Director Harry Bradbeer and screenwriter Jack Thorne still map up a satisfying character arc for the detective, which essentially boils down to him learning how to be a father figure to Enola. He smiles to himself when Enola runs away from home, strategically planting her bike to send them in the wrong direction. Later, he practically bursts with pride when she solves the mystery of the film before he does. This is a proud papa version of Sherlock Holmes, and it’s very, very adorable.

After seeing Cavill as a soft, giant teddy bear version of Sherlock Holmes, I never want to go back. Now all that’s left to do is bully Netflix into casting Joey Batey as Dr. Watson in the sequel.

Enola Holmes: Henry Cavill Is the Most Thirst Inducing Sherlock Ever rofl

Netflix original movie Enola Holmes, starring Millie Bobby Brown, takes an interesting approach to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic work. It might also feature the hottest Sherlock Holmes in film history.

Enola Holmes has received great praise, especially for Brown's performance. However, the major shock is Henry Cavill's thirst-inducing portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. That's saying a lot, since heartthrobs like Downey Jr., Cumberbatch and Sir Ian McKellen have all portrayed the character on screen. But that's what happens when Superman plays the world's greatest detective.

Cavill plays the role well, giving Sherlock the air of brilliance tempered with just enough smugness to make the character feel authentic. He also brings a bit of emotion to the part, particularly in Sherlock's obvious soft spot for Enola. They are cut from the same special cloth, which is probably why their less interesting brother Mycroft (Sam Claflin) hates them both so much.

At the same time, Cavill's scenes make it seem like the costume department had an internal bet as to how tight they could get his Victorian-era suit before it either became anachronistic and/or flat out burst. The point is: Cavill does a great job playing Sherlock Holmes as an uncharacteristically secondary player and looks amazing doing it.
