Twenty-eight years ago in 1991 Athena's fiancé, police officer Emmett Washington, was killed by a drug addict during a robbery gone wrong.

Emmett was there at the liquor store, because Athena had asked him to pick up some cream for her mother's coffee on his way home.

Since then she carries the heavy burden of guilt for his death.

The gun used in the shooting has now been found. Athena decides, against the wishes of Bobby and her mother Beatrice, to investigate and search for the culprit.

In the end there is a confrontation with the murderer.

This a very emotional episode and one gets a better understanding of Athena's motives and dedication to join the LAPD.
