Item: Rick and Morty: Specials - Samurai & Shogun
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: The "Rick & Morty" anime short films were released independently as short films and were called such by the executive producer of the films and were widely referred to as such in media releases when they came out. I believe they should go back to having their own pages as movies rather than specials on here.

No, they were not released like that. They've all been released as Rick and Morty extras and use the same page as the main show on AdultSwim.com.

They were first released on Toonami (some of the later ones were previewed first on YouTube). Jason DeMarco referred to the first as an "anime short."

"Anime Short" is also how Max refers to them: https://www.max.com/ms/en/movies/rick-and-morty-samurai-and-shogun-parts-1-2/a5fd3dfa-d6f4-4154-b4c9-d6af14a47858

Toonami is a programming block on Adult Swim and all the shorts have been released as Rick and Morty extras and use the same page as the main show on AdultSwim.com.
Being listed as specials of Rick and Morty on TMDB doesn't preclude them from also being short films, it just means they weren't given a separate page on the Adult Swim website and were originally considered extras of the main show.
How Max lists them is irrelevant as they are not the original broadcaster.
