How far away is BCS from BB?

In last night's episode, the current year was Jan 2004, so how far away is this series from the start of BB? This season it looks like they are setting up where certain characters will be at the start of BB, and I imagine that as they get closer to the end, certain characters will move on like Kim or be killed off like Nacho. I think next season we will see BCS move closer to the start of BCS.

According to this article, the events of BB are believed to take place between 2009 and 2011. It states that the start of BCS started in 2002. So, they could potentially have a couple more seasons if they wanted to. I also found this on a message board:
"We can then assume 2009 is when Walter White turns 50 years old due to his birth year being listed as 1959
From this, the final episode Felina takes place in 2011, exactly on the day of Walter's 52nd birthday."

Wow, good find and thanks for posting. I posted or thought we were maybe close to BB due to some of the story lines of the super lab being built, and Gus/Hector. It appears a good 5 years still away from the 1st episode of BB, Walt's cancer diagnosis. We did see a quick glimpse of Gale Boetticher, so who's working lab for the next 5 years? I don't recall Gale seeming like he was in lab for a long time when we see him in BB? Again, I'll revisit, but also didn't seem like the lab was 3-5 years old when Walt & Jesse began using it. I think safe to assume the lab is completed before the end of 2005 giving us a good 4+ years before Walt in charge of it.
Seems like a big gap of where we are and start of BB???

Yes, a big gap! I am really interested to see what they throw at us. The lab did seem new when Walt and Jesse started using it, but that could just be Gus's meticulous nature. Every scene we have seen of his home and restaurant, they are kept quite tidy. I LOVED seeing Gale! Actually, I am loving every thing about this season. Particularly, Gus building the lab. He was one of my favorites on BB and I hated to see him go, so all of this back story to him is fantastic! I'm thinking we'll be seeing Tuco show up soon. He was taking care of Hector early on in BB. Also, what do you think of this new guy Eduardo showing up?
