Good question. Gonna guess it will be more about Saul Goodman being a more ethnic type lawyer name that he can do the type of lawyer work we see him doing in BB. Not sure if public even cares about the McGill name but maybe we'll see it smeared so much and worth garbage after this entire dust up with Chuck & Jimmy that Jimmy says, change of name best way to continue being Lawyer in the ABQ

You probably recall, in BB Saul did claim that he worked under that name so he'd be thought to be "a member of the tribe", but it seemed he was joking (mostly) at that time. I'm wondering if he might adopt the pseudonym so as to not be thought of as "that lawyer McGill who drove his brother to suicide."
It seems possible that Chuck might be disbarred, or at very least, dropped by HHM, as his outburst during the hearing is bound to result in a competency hearing. With his wife and career gone, I can easily imagine him taking his life. That would be Page One news in ABQ, and would tarnish the McGill name, probably more than Jimmy's wrongdoing.
That's just conjecture, of course, but I'd like to hear others' theories.

I can see Chuck having a breakdown and being hospitalized. He has long-standing issues that sure need to be addressed. I don't see him completing though.

I like your theory. Almost hope it plays out like that except that Chuck is such a great character I'd hate to see him die.
1) It seems possible that Chuck might be disbarred
On what grounds?
2) or at very least, dropped by HHM
He co-owns the firm. he can't be "dropped".
3) as his outburst during the hearing is bound to result in a competency hearing.
On what grounds...because he resents his brother? lol
4) With his wife and career gone, I can easily imagine him taking his life.
He's too interesting a character...I doubt Gilligan would write him out of the show anytime soon.
I like your questions. I've done a search about the legalities of disbarment and dissolution of a partnership, and was unable to find any information supporting the theory that his behavior on the stand could cause Chuck to lose his license or be ejected from HHM.
Regarding disbarment, the only grounds specified were that an attorney could not violate the law or abet another party in doing so. If he stays within that boundary, he can be as loony as a soup sandwich and practice unfettered. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable might point out mental competency requirements. (I would say his rant went beyond revealing his hatred of Jimmy, veering into incoherent/paranoid-sounding babble about copy a shop employee, and Jimmy's mischief with the sun roof and his dad's shop.)
It would seem to me that the red flags he raised about his mental fitness and impulse control might give HHM grounds for breaking with him, but one source seemed to indicate that a partnership could be ended without grounds being stated. I'd doubt that Howard would be comfortable having Chuck deal directly with clients. Perhaps he'll still value him as an advisor or researcher.
You may be right about Gilligan keeping him around as an interesting character (I very much agree, and wouldn't like to see him gone), but I have more respect for the creative integrity of a series if they violate that criteria now and then, as "Game of Thrones" has famously done.
Thanks for your reply. It's great to find people who actually give thought to what we're watching, and can state their opinions well.
Good stuff guys. I wonder if Gilligan is truly using BCS as a segue of Jimmy/Saul to BB? If so, then based on BB, there really wasn't any HHM or Chuck at all, so is that what we are heading towards? Or just BCS and what he's becoming which eventually leads to BB and there we are?
As a BB fan I'm curious how Jimmy gets to Saul (which should happen sooner than later) and then into BB. The END. Doesn't seem like we'll get much more than that but TBD.

Well, Gilligan did kill off Gus on BB, and he was a key, "popular" character, so I don't rule out Chuck's death in the long run. I just don't think he would do it this season. But that actually would be a good season finale this year, if they have the balls to do it, to give Jimmy that final push into "Sauldom". Although I would miss McKean, who has been stellar.

I think there is the possibility that HHM and Chuck were around during the BB era, but played no part in the stories being told in that series. We didn't get anything much of Saul's life apart from where it touched the lives of the principal characters of BB, so we can't really know.
If Gilligan and Co. still feel they have stories to tell about Saul, Mike, or even characters like Gus, Hector, Tuco and others, what's to stop them from continuing the series concurrent with the timeline of BB? After all, those characters all had lives apart from their interactions with Walt, Jesse, and the others in that group. Might not their other stories be just as interesting?
Also, at least some fans have an interest in Saul's post-BB life, so BCS could go in many directions which aren't limited by its catching up chronologically to the events in BB.

I have no doubt that Gilligan has the balls to do whatever he thinks is best for the story, including kill off Chuck.

I think a lot of fans would agree that it would take less guts to kill off Chuck than Gus. Gus Fring was charming and likable, despite being very cold-blooded, and many BB fans, as you know, were eager to see him again in BCS. I doubt many actually "like" Chuck, the character, though you're absolutely right that McKean's portrayal of him is stunningly good. Plus, there aren't that many prominent characters who might die, as we know they're still around in BB.

Sorry to pick on this but can you remind me how Gus was killed in BB? I can't remember a scene where he dies. I know he kills that 'Mexican cartel head of heads with poison. That was a great BB episode. Thanks.
