Is anyone else hating the song choices that play over the opening credits of S3?
I know that many complained about the song,"Let The Mystery Be" that played during the opening credits of S2; but, I'll take that song ANY DAY over the songs we've been given so far this season.
If there were a new opening, then, maybe the new songs would work. But, "...Mystery Be" was such a powerful "statement" of what S2 was all about that using that same montage with different songs just doesn't work...not for me, anyway.
What say you?

Aren't the songs now becoming symbolic or foreshadow for episode?
I d/L'd E4 song. Loved it.
Expecting new song every episode now. A set up for what's to come

This is one I LOVE. Not so much lyrics but the acoustic guitar and his passion in song.

Excited for tonight's episode.

I agree. The songs do not fit the opening montage at all. Playing things like the theme song from perfect strangers, is taking away from that tense, mysterious atmosphere the show used to have. It seems to color how I view the scenes...almost like it's a black comedy.
I think it's foreshadowing that Damon Lindelof will completely destroy the series by putting his stench of lameness on the finale, like he did with Lost.

"Let The Mystery Be" - I am glad you said the title of the song because it has been so long since I've heard it -I couldn't recall what the original theme song was.
And the song they played last night was too low and whispered - didn't know what they were singing. I don't like the song choices either, but I think they are relevant to the episodes.

Truth. Even though they said they were paying homage- still it was the one I hated the most, that song is just too darned cheerful to be playing during that photo montage of disappeared people.
I agree, the theme song from Perfect Strangers made it seem comical.
I really hope not

S1's theme playing over S2's opening for the weirdest episode (so far) of S3? What in the heck is up with that!!!!!!!?
I think all that complaining we (fans) did about the theme songs has come back to butt-bite us.
Almost the ENTIRE season of songs...especially the openings... have been so unpalatable you'd think the writers hate us or something.
I wouldn't go so far as to say "completely destroyed"...but, hearing them certainly has lessen my enjoyment of this final season.

The shows creators reasoning is that each opening song is very relevant to that particular episode- and they have been, no matter how out of place they may have sounded ( and yes I agree-they really did) , the opening songs played were a direct lead in to what was going to happen/happening in that episode.

I guess the loss is mine...
They may have been playing "silk purse" songs, but I only had "sow's ear" hearing.

Have you given up or are you still watching the show?

Not only NO!...but, heck NO!
I think it is a stellar show with an outstanding cast.
Looking forward to the finale (iffy songs and all).
So, So, So sorry to see it go.

Must say I was all
when I heard the intro over the opening credits for the finale.
None of the others songs used in S3 did it for me. The only one that came even close was Richter's hauntingly moving Theme from S1 which we got to hear again over S3E7.
I know a lot of folks didn't like "...Mystery Be". But, while nowhere near as good as the Theme in particular, it was far better than anything else for the S2/S3 opening credits.

I loved the visuals for season 2's opening credits (also S3), but I didn't care for the song. Liked the lyrics ok, but the vocals seemed almost a mockery of what they were trying to be. (plus I don't care for twangy country music.)
I didn't mind the different song for every episode at all. I thought it was interesting, and I appreciated the care with which each episode's song was chosen. Brilliant show, and I don't think a single visual or sound was out of place.
