Discuss Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Can a 'Specials' season be created? I want to add commentary listings. Pilot Commentary. The Turk Commentary. What He Beheld (2) Commentary. Samson and Delilah Commentary. Allison from Palmdale Commentary. Adam Raised a Cain Commentary. Born to Run Commentary.

Episode commentaries are just alternative audio tracks for the episodes. They are not allowed as specials.

The series did a non conventional thing , they put the commentaries on a separate video instead of using an secondary audio track on the original video.

Hi - any chance we could get this looked at again and the Specials opened? There are official "making of" specials and such that many of us would like to add, not just commentaries.

@banana_girl The OP wasn't clear here. There are many extras on the home media blu-ray set that should be in a Season 0 for this series. I agree the commentaries don't belong there, they did set those up unconventionally on the discs, but they're still just added audio tracks no matter how you look at it. What really needs to be added are the documentaries, casting call videos, deleted scenes, and other extras so that they can be catalogued and properly viewed on home media systems that consume TMDB information such as Firecore Infuse and many others.

Can you get me a list of specials that need to be added? Deleted scenes are typically not added unless they were edited into a single video for the season (similarly to bloopers).

This is just a few to show you there's plenty to be added for Season 0. If you want everything, it will take me a little longer. It would be great if we could just add them ourselves, but let us know please?

  • Creating the Chronicles Re-Boot (17 minute featurette)
  • Creating the Chronicles Future War (11 minute featurette)
  • Creating the Chronicles The Demon Hand (12 minute featurette)
  • Cast audition tapes (12 minutes of auditions for the show)
  • Cameron vs. Rosie Fight Rehearsal (behind the scenes)
  • The Storyboard Process (behind the scenes in pre-production)
  • Summer Glau dance rehearsal
  • Storyboard animatic
  • Season One gag reel
  • Season Two gag reel

There are probably ten to fifteen more. The Blu-Rays have descriptions for each extra.

Below you can see the complete list I have, having just finished ripping my blu-rays for both seasons to disc with all extras.

Note that there are multiple Deleted Scenes tracks. They distributed them across the blu ray discs to place them with the episodes from which the scenes were deleted.

  • S00E01 - 6 Deleted Scenes from season 1, episodes 1-3
  • S00E02 - "Creating the Chronicles" 3-part documentary
  • S00E03 - Gag Reel from season 1
  • S00E04 - Cast Audition Tapes
  • S00E05 - Deleted Scene from season 1, episode 6
  • S00E06 - "Summer Glau Dance Rehearsal" video footage
  • S00E07 - Storyboard Animatic for the "Pilot" episode
  • S00E08 - Deleted Scene from season 1, episodes 7-9 (I could pinpoint this to the episode, just haven't done that yet)
  • S00E09 - Deleted Scene from season 1, episodes 7-9 (I could pinpoint this to the episode, just haven't done that yet)
  • S00E10 - "The Storyboard Process - Cameron Goes Bad" featurette
  • S00E11 - 2 Deleted Scenes from season 2, episodes 6 and 9
  • S00E12 - "Cameron vs. Rosie: Fight Rehearsal" featurette
  • S00E13 - 2 Deleted Scenes from season 2, episodes 10 and 13
  • S00E14 - 5 Deleted Scenes from season 2, episodes 18 and 19
  • S00E15 - 3 Deleted Scenes from season 2, episodes 20 and 22
  • S00E16 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Write the Future" featurette
  • S00E17 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Conceptualization" featurette
  • S00E18 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Blood and Metal" featurette
  • S00E19 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Designing the Destruction" featurette
  • S00E20 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Coreographing Chaos" featurette
  • S00E21 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - War Stories" featurette
  • S00E22 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Setting the Tempo" featurette
  • S00E23 - "The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator - Motivations" featurette
  • S00E24 - Gag Reel from season 2

From a cataloguing perspective, I like the idea of including the deleted scenes since they are extras that people enjoy watching, and identifying them according to how they are broken out adds value to the larger community of people who set up their own home libraries. Also, while for a movie I want all deleted scenes on one track, or for a show that doesn't include many I prefer the same, in this case they included so many deleted scenes across the entire series (21 total!) and it actually makes sense to have them in separate groups so that they can be watched relative to when you might watch the episodes from which those scenes were deleted.

Alright! I added the missing Special season.

Thank you!! @poshoholic Great job assembling the list. Let me know if you need descriptions or screenshots and I'll be happy to help!

Thank you so much @banana_girl!

@mindfog2287: I added all specials (including two that I had missed in my list above, for which I adjusted the order slightly), along with their runtimes and descriptions. Please have a look at let me know if anything seems off to you.

As far as screenshots go, that would be great! It's late here so I won't get to those tonight, but I can also contribute screenshots in the coming days to give the specials a better presence/UX in media services that consume TMDB data.

I have yet to watch any of this, but going through this process and writing up these descriptions, plus taking a peek at some of the content, all of that has gotten me excited to watch it!

@poshoholic Thanks for kicking this all off. I thought it was a lost cause, but so happy @banana_girl added it! Late here too, and I have a hard deadline on a writing assignment for Tuesday, but I will see if i can get to it this weekend if you haven't already. I haven't seen most of these either yet. I ripped them, and then when I saw we couldn't officially add them here (I use Plex, which pulls from here), I just left them in my "ripped" folder and never went back to rename/organize them, so this is great.

Also reminded me I really need to watch this show again from the start. It just got better and better as it went, and it's still one of the shows I'm most upset was canceled. It ended on such a promising note I was eager to see where it went!

Cheers!

@mindfog2287: I added all specials

Hi! I had some time today so I added screenshots (with a couple options in most cases) to the episodes. I find it usually takes a day or two for them to be available for scraping from Plex, but your descriptions are already available!

So happy to have this series buttoned up now! Thanks again!

@mindfog2287: That's awesome, they look great! Thanks for tag-teaming this with me! I've been running some compression on the original rips all day today, and will be uploading the files to my server once that's done, so this is great timing! :)

Unfortunately (for me), this listing for specials is different than TVDB and so is f**king up my Plex listing - especially since Plex refuses to respect metadata in mkv files, nor plexmatch files. Guess I'll have to use episode numbering above 26...

@dancoffin Mine were numbered differently too, so I just renumbered according to @poshoholic 's numbering system. That way I know they'll always be in sync now.

Alternately, If you use TVDB for your agent, you should be able to just go in your TV shows and under episode ordering for TV shows (in Advanced), select The TVDB if that's how you originally set up your library.

You can also select "Prefer Local Metadata" under Advanced. There are also Plex options in your library under Advanced for "Use Original Titles," "Use Local Assets," etc.

That should allow you to override The Movie Database for series where you have specified ordering and metadata that doesn't adhere to TMDB.

I started using TMDB long ago because it had all the Star Trek original series extras, where TVDB only had five specials, and they were not flexible about adding the rest of them.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
