OK, folks. For all those who have finished Season 4: which episode(s) is your favorite and why?
Just to put it out there, for me the best of S4 was Metalhead (didn't love the "teddy bear" ending) because the 'dogs' were legit!
Runner up for me was Hang the DJ. Loved the ending on that one in fact ("Don't tell me you are into the whole 'We're living in a simulation.' thing.") Great payoff at the end IMO!
Third place for me was Black Museum, a pretty good (if redundant from previous seasons) episode, but the ending was less that fulfilling.
So how about you? What did I miss? I really LOVE this show, and I want it to be AWESOMER. :)

Arkangel... was the best this season, as it was the most resonant, moving and is also close to being s reality, not in a literal sense, but in the sense of parental surveilance and over-sheltering of the young..
Crocodile... was good as a TV crime thriller, but was elevated to a large extent by Anrea Riseborough's nuanced performance... Great to see an independent woman character, that is complex, loyal, but flawed and makes bad moral decisions. Very rare...
Hang the DJ... was cute, although falls short of San Junipero, which had more complexity... It also shows the weakness that the writers have for sex/relationship apps... They have a soft spot and think uncritically about it... Saved partly by the hotness of the girl...
USS Callister... was decent and mostly fun satire of obsessive StarWarsTrekGalactica nerd/geek culture and of hiding behind technology instead of growing backbone or developing social skills... Pokes fun mostly, but also has some interesting perspective on impotent rage, as well as the importance of empathy for the socially awkward... I use the word satire loosely only because nerd culture is the dominant culture now, otherwise it wouldn't really be satire in my point of view...
Black Museum was below average for the show as it started to become too self referencial with nerdy nods to the other episodes and it relied far too much on exposition... Was probably the most "TV" of all of the series in terms of aesthetics and feel...
Metalhead... Just sucks... Looks like an attempt at a student film... Nice machine concept though
Overall, the weakest season so far, but not bad overall...

See I found Arkangel too preachy and condescending. I mean, I got there waaaay before any of the characters did. Is it closer to reality? Sure. Was it scary? Not in the way that past seasons/technology was. For me BM always had this way of fascinating me with some "we're almost there" tech then terrifying me with the practical and philosophical implications. Arkangel was momma-drama. But hey, I liked Metalhead so to each his own!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

No problem, i like to hear different opinions as well... that's what's so good about this show... each episode is so different from the others that we can have very divergent opinions of them, but they're nearly always thought provoking... Very few shows are compelling enough that we want to discuss the themes and how they relate to our lives...
Still, arguably, the best show on TV... 👍

I liked them all in their own unique way. I can't pick a favorite.

USS Callister was the best - technology and darkness put together brilliantly, along with humour and a homage to Star Trek. But most of all you can believe that their are people out there like Jesse Plemons bullied character who just imagine these scenarios.
Arkangel was the weakest. Too obvious what was going to happen.
I personally liked Hang the DJ aswell, just a funny look at the matchmaking game.
Overall the budget is obviously higher but the quality lower.

While obvious, it was still good. It was interesting how the girl adopted a pornographical linguistics style during her first coital experience. Her mom's reaction while watching live was fun, also.

The Walter Mitty-ness of USS Callister was probably the darkest part of that episode... Quite chilling actually... The hiding within the daydreams coupled with impotent rage... Just ready to explode or implode...

My favorite S4 episode was Hang the DJ. I liked the main characters, their relationship felt real and it was overall a fun episode.
Black Museum was one of the weakest Black episodes so far, in my opinion. I generally love Black Mirror, except when it gets exaggeratedly cruel and sadistic just for shock value. It's okay when it actually serves a function for the story and raises ethical questions (like in White Bear for instance), but in Black Museum it just felt too gratuitous.

Hang the DJ was my favourite. As San Junipero was my fave last season it seems that I'm a sucker for the happy, feel good ones. They are also both oddly episode 4 of the season so maybe it's gonna be the trend to put the happy one 4th each time.
Arkangel was probably my 2nd fave because, as Renovatio mentioned, it is the most relevant.
I wouldn't say any of them were bad this season. Metalhead did seem like a student film. But a well shot, well edited student film.

They were all good except "Metalhead" in my opinion. "Arkangel" was also so so. My favorite one was "USS Callister".
