讨论 Cops

For example, the police depts. shown in the episodes have final say on episode editing, so it can be really biased. For more, go here.

I hadn't been aware of that. This is a series I enjoyed watching when it aired, years back, every Saturday night on FOX.

By the way, I didn't learn, till just within the last week, that at least some t.v. "live performance" competition shows, that are presented as supposedly the competition performances taking place live during the actual broadcasts, are actually the performances all having been taped on the prior Saturday afternoon or whenever, but solely the eliminations taking place during the weekly "live show"! Here, all these years, I believed that when they say "live show" that that's truly what it is - that the competition performances take place right during the 1 or 2 hour(s) time slot during which the show is being broadcast!

You may find this link interesting. It explains that reality TV is even faker than you think.

Btw, Live PD, just like COPS, can be terribly biased. E.g., these shows often show a disproportionate number of black accused perps early in the show, giving a completely false and unnecessarily scary impression. And they typically don't get releases from perps before showing their faces on TV. They just weasel out of it by adding the disclaimer that people are innocent until proven guilty, blah, blah, blah. As someone once said, where do I go to get my good name back?

I'm glad the city where I live has actually taken legislative action to protect people shown in these series.

It's surprising how much on t.v. gets presented as supposedly being one way when, in actuality, things are decidedly otherwise.

I haven't seen COPS since its FOX run of decades back. Until tonight I thought it concluded, the series overall, at the end of that FOX run.

Both those aforementioned series are alive and well. I think COPS is now on the Paramount channel (new episodes on Mondays), in its 30th season, and Live PD is on Fox.

During this summer's programming season I watched all of the episodes of the new FOX series First Responders: Live. Not a bad series (however most of the time was unremarkable), though an obvious knock-off of a combination of the prior series (plural) that you mentioned, particularly Live PD. I don't currently get Live PD, but seem to recall that it airs on A&E.

Live PD is actually rather boring. I watch only the more condensed, "repeat" episodes contained in Live PD: Police Patrol. It's like COPS. It took A&E awhile to realize that the original series was often like watching the grass grow. That's why they came up w/the repackaged Live PD: Police Patrol and Live PD: Rap Sheet, which is similar to the Police Patrol spinoff.

Yes, sorry, I was referring accidentally to Live PD: Police Patrol, because that's what I watch on Fox. The original Live PD is/was on A&E, which I don't get OTA (I cut cable a while ago).
