I recall when Monk was on Netflix. Same as a lot of shows I deeply appreciated.
Monk Seasons 1-8 were made available on Amazon Prime, recently. Many thanks...been too long since I binge-watched this wonderful show. Shalhoub was known to me long before he starred in this series; it was as if he were born to play Adrian Monk.
Not a thing wrong with that. It certainly beats being born not to be remembered for playing a role everyone familiar with will take to their graves remembering with fondness. Having just cherry-picked through all eight years (building up to The End) the thrill still remains.
Not every episode is a Gold Medal winner. But even the shows I'm not eager to revisit have their comic or serious moments worth watching again. Even the Sharona/Natalie or Beal's/Newman's theme debates are fun to argue over again, once back in your mind-field.
Favorite shows, in chronological order (so many too close to call, but these will suffice)
The Other Woman Goes Back to School The Blackout Stays In Bed - 2nd Favorite The Garbage Strike Is Up All Night - Absolute Favorite Fights City Hall The Foreign Man
Special Mentions - Stuck in Traffic and The Man Who Shot Santa Claus (Monk's perfunctory ho, ho, ho seals it.)
Obviously the very first and the last two episodes are special. No need to bring those up except to say I won't mention them.
You rock, Amazon. Until you remove shows like these for any reason. So keep on rockin' me Amazon-babes.
Post-script - Sharona for her looks, Natalie for her kindness. Beal's theme was wonderful, Newman's added structure to Monk.
