Sometimes when I think back to that virtual community I picture it in my head like a ballroom in a hotel, maybe a little dated looking, full of people back then. Sometimes people might go up on stage and perform and sometimes everyone was just standing and talking with each other on the floor. Now I imagine that room dark or dimly lit. Every now and then a few people might go back in (now via TMDb), chat a little bit, and walk back out. Others poke their heads in the door, say hello and run away. What a weird phenomenon.

Yeah, Lemons, I get what you mean.
I do find myself going back there, from time to time, since IMDB has more extensive cast lists than this website, and I like to read the parents' guide sometimes just to see what I'm getting into (it's just for my information, since I have no children).
I'm still ticked with them for unleashing their scorched Earth armageddon on the discussion boards, however, and spend most of my time here. Plus-- and I hope you'll excuse my conceitedness --I do like to think the folks who frequent TMDB are a bit more cultured and discerning when it comes to the cinematic and television arts.

I'm glad you get what I mean. 😊 I liked your scorched Earth armageddon comparison. That feels quite accurate. I wanted to ask (and I apologize if I've asked this before because I probably have 😊) but were you called northcoast on IMDb? If you'd prefer not to say, no worries.

No, my name on IMDB was my real first name, followed by the first few letters of my surname, and then a number. I was a bit more naive then when it came to the workings of the interwebs-- I think I established my account on IMDB back in 2005, before scrapping it in anger in 2017 --and now northcoast merely refers to the "north coast" of the "lower 48" of the United States. My home. Since my given name is somewhat distinctive, it would be easy for someone to discover my true identity.
So, I prefer the anonymity of my "new" name, and prefer not to say.

If, however, Lemons, you correctly guessed the geographic region of the part of the U.S. I reside in, I'll give you a thumbs-up. (Our friend genplant already knows).

You have me soooo intrigued. 😁 First, I completely respect that you would prefer your anonymity. The interwebs can indeed be a crazy place. Still, I wonder if there is a way for me to figure out who you were without divulging your old name. Did you and I talk much on IMDb?

I hung out mostly on the Science Fiction, Drama, Horror*, and Politics boards. I don't recall if we talked much. I'm thinking probably not, since you seem to prefer a lot of comedic television, and I spent more time talking about movies.

We probably did not talk on IMDb then because I was almost solely on The Big Bang Theory board. It's always nice to chat with you here on TMDb though. For what it's worth I like some horror/thriller shows and movies. 🙂
