Discuss The Big Bang Theory

He started out OK but then with each season he gets more and more pathetic. I'm starting to respect Stuart more. I would really like to see a story line with a strong Indian woman show up and grab Raj by the nether regions and tell him how to behave. But that's me.

I like Raj as long as he doesn't speak mask . Now that he's supporting himself without his parents' financial aid he might grow up and be self-reliant. Then again he might become a bigger butthead. I like to see a story line with Stuart. He needs to be less creepy. His backstory is he went to art college and ended up owning a comic books store. He should continue drawing and painting and maybe have an exhibit. That happened in the earlier season.

Is Raj even helping with the rent? Or is he just Pennys girlfriend? Stuart used to be cool. They just made him a loser for no good reason. A great Stuart quote:" Comic cons are the only place where telling a girl you own a comic book store helps you to score."

It's a shame what they did to Raj's character. In the early seasons he was tied with Sheldon as my favourite character.

On the subject of Stuart, why did Chuck Lorre feel the need to make him into Alan Harper 2.0? This is the same guy that asked out Penny in season 2!

And went out with Amy.

I thought I was the only one who hated Raj. I agree with everyone else that he's pathetic. I didn't mind the first couple seasons of him not being able to talk to women, but it was getting pretty stale. Plus, the fact that he suddenly could when all he had was one sip of alcohol or a bite of rum cake was absolutely ridiculous. I was really happy when he started being able to talk to them, but that's also when he started to truly annoy me. He is becoming more and more effeminate with every episode which makes him more and more annoying to me. I wish they would do something to change his character for the better; I'm just not sure what...

I maintain that he needs a strong woman to put him in his place.

It would be a pretty fine line. I doubt Raj would put up for long with a woman who doesn't think his skin should be as soft as hers, etc.

Even if they didn't want to go down a relationship arc with Raj since it's been overdone with the other 3 guys, they could have at least developed his professional life and made him really successful in that area. After the People magazine episode he never seemed to shine as a scientist. For such a brilliant person, it seems his character only serves as a babysitter on the show now.

I don't think they've done much in the past to show that Raj is "brilliant." Sheldon and Leonard were both basically childhood prodigies although Sheldon talks more (constantly) about it than Leonard, but they've both done pretty notable work in the past including the latest quantum gyroscope stuff which was Leonard's idea to start with. And Howard has had a pretty successful history in his engineering work including his telescope thing that he went up to install on the Space Station and extending Leonard's idea to the quantum gyroscope project. Meanwhile, Raj has "discovered" a comet and an asteroid or something, but those are more the kind of thing anyone could do if they spend all their time in the telescope room because they never go on dates. I don't see any "brilliance" from Raj.

That's a fair point. I would still think he's supposed to be pretty smart on the show but I agree that nothing has shown that he's extraordinary. I guess from all angles he's not serving much purpose on the show.
