The redemption of Negan seems to support the contention that Carl was right for appealing to Negan and Rick by letter, and Rick was right for not killing Negan...but I'm not sure there are enough Saviors left to reckon with that, or at least see Negan working with the communities in peace and cooperation to say, "wow, Rick was right."

It seems clear that the Whisperers - or, at least, Alpha and Beta - are gearing up to antagonize our communities. I guess some will defect and join the communities (Lydia may likely figure prominently in representing the love and hope of the communities to her former Whisperer family), as has been the case with almost every group Rick's group has come across since leaving Atlanta; and those who stand with Alpha/Beta will, together with them, ultimately get cut down.
