I know the show is known for bubblegum music, since I was not a regular fan, some of the lesser known songs are a little obscure to me. I recently watched season 1 on DVD, and heard "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat"! Listening to the lyrics, I thought " whoa that is a little racy for bubblegum ". Maybe it is just me.

I grew up during the era this show originally aired, watched it all the time (though today don't really remember much, other than what the various characters/actors looked like and who they played), was a huge fan (used to hold my tape-recorder's microphone up to the t.v. set and recorded every time a song came on!), and don't remember this Partridge Family song, at all.
I just now looked it up on YouTube and played the clip of it there and definitely hear what you mean. Clearly Keith seems to be singing about more than a mere innocent romantic nighttime date, instead about it being "the" night!

I am still wondering how that song made it through the censors of tbe time. Many posters joked that it was a little strange seeing three little kids playing on a song about big brother getting "lucky", with his girlfriend. Check out another song " Looking For A Good Time", Keith ain't talking about making out at Muldoon' s Point or romantic picnics in this song. LOL. Its has to be the funkiest PF song I ever heard.
I had a Mickey Mouse tape recorder, and use to do the same thing, but never recorded the PF tunes. Just a tepid fan as a kid. I also had a Bozo and Big Bird transistor radio, was I a child of the era or what!
I read comments, both David and his girlfriend at the time, partially wrote the first song, considering the PG tone of the song, and hearing the late singer talk about his racy past, I would not be surprised, if he did contribute.

The name of the song is 'I Can Feel Your Heartbeat'. You have to remember the times. Sex, drugs, & rock n roll was in full swing & most children wouldn't understand what the lyrics meant. Here are the actual lyrics & YT link:

Lyrics
I can feel your heartbeat and you didn't even say a word
I can feel your heartbeat and you didn't even say a word
Oh, I know, pretty woman that your love can be heard
You can feel my heartbeat, too. I can tell you're feelin' me
You can feel my heartbeat, too. I can see you feelin' me
Oh, I know, pretty woman that your love can be heard. Ohhhhh...
We paint the night, let it shine in the light of our love
This is the night - yeah, this is the night of our love
I'll treat you like a woman, love you like a woman
Lord, I'll prove it baby, I'm a man of my word
LICK
Love, love - cantcha feel your heartbeat
Love, love - I can feel your heartbeat
Love, love - cantcha feel your heartbeat, love!
Love, love - cantcha feel my heartbeat
Love, love - I can feel your heartbeat
Love, love - cantcha feel your heartbeat
Love, love - I can feel your heartbeat
Love, love - cantcha feel it?
Love, love - I can feel it!
Love, love - gettin' stronger!
Love, love - Oh, I can feel it!
Love, love - I can feel it!
Love, love - It's gettin' stronger - LOVE!

Thanks for the correction. LOL, compared to what you hear today, those lyrics are pretty tame.
