The problem with episode groups is that things that take data from the API, such as Trakt, rely on the consistency of its sources. On it, there appears to be no second season or even a second half of the first at all, and its as if all episodes were released as season 1. Even as a VIP with more advanced control over the sources I’m unable to manually select things like episode groups for the data to be sourced from.

It is possible to select and show episode groups on trakt. Scroll down to seasons, right next to the "Season" header is an option to select a episode group.
Though trakt is done for me now since the price hike this week. Doubling the price is ridiculous. Cancelled VIP and switching to selfhosted Yamtrack.

I’m not seeing such an option in the app, or on their mobile site. I’m sure its probably on the desktop version, but I’ve never used it. The primary issue, however, is with Infuse (A mobile file player that collects metadata and send what you’re watching to Trakt). Any files I have are going to be named something like “Solo leveling S02 E01”, which for any other show it’d recognize and associate it with the proper episode - allowing proper Trakt scrobbling. Since TMDB has this misconfiguration, no metadata is able to be found for the show past the actual season 1. Episode groups can’t resolve this, because even if there is a group for season 2, there is no (according to TMDB) “Solo leveling: Season 2 Episode 1”.

They solve this. Inside the production episode groups, the episodes use the production numbering and are numbered S01E01 -> S01E12 and S02E01 -> S02E13.
