Hi there,
I’m a graduate student conducting academic research for a non-commercial machine learning project. I’d like to use TMDb API data to supplement a predictive model aiming to estimate YouTube trailer view counts based on metadata such as: Movie title, Release year, Box office revenue, Genre and other basic movie attributes.
This project is strictly for academic purposes and will not be monetized in any form. Any usage of TMDb data will be attributed clearly, and the final research may be submitted as a university thesis or academic paper, but not behind a paywall or for profit.
I’ve read the API Terms of Use, particularly the section that states TMDb reserves the right to use the content in connection with machine learning or AI-based applications. I’d like to confirm: Would using TMDb metadata as input features in a non-commercial, academic ML model (without including any audio/visual content) be considered a violation of your terms?
I want to make sure everything remains within legal and ethical boundaries. Thank you in advance for your clarification!
Best regards,
TingYi
