I hope you're doing well.

I'm writing to request assistance regarding my API access. Recently, I've noticed that my IP seems to be blocked or rate-limited, as I'm consistently receiving connection errors such as "connection failed." However, I want to clarify that I'm not intentionally violating any usage policies.

While there are occasional spikes where up to 10,000 requests might be sent in a day, this is not a regular occurrence. On most days, the usage is moderate and aligned with the intended use of the API for my project. I rely on TMDB daily and always aim to stay within acceptable usage limits.

Please consider reviewing and unblocking my access. I truly value your service and would appreciate any guidance to ensure I remain compliant.

Hi @toonmix,

We don't have any blocks on the API, so it's not anything like that. The only restriction we have is a rate limit of around 40 requests per second, but if you were hitting that you'd be getting a 429 error.

Depending what country you are in, there have been known to be some ISP's around the world that block TMDB. A number of these blocks have existed in India off an on for years, for example.

Sometimes using a different DNS server is enough to fix it. I usually recommend Google or Quad9:

  • 8.8.8.8 (Google)
  • 9.9.9.9 (Quad9)
