Hi, I received this notification a month ago and my film was deleted, despite being a legit credit. I have no idea what "new content guidelines" we did not meet. I need to update the release date since it's premiering in a big festival in the upcoming months, so I'd really need them to restore the title. I would rather not create a new one as it would create a double on Letterboxd, and we already have reviews there.
"This is just a friendly note from the content moderators at TMDB. The entry you created titled "Blondi" was deleted. This title did not meet our new content guidelines. If you have any questions about this deletion, feel free to reply to this message."
I had questions but despite my messages and emails, I didn't hear back in over a month.

These are the new content guidelines: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/new_content
Unfortunately I do not believe deleted entries on this site can be restored. If your film is allowed based on the rules on this site then someone would have to create a brand new entry as far as I'm aware.

Thanks. I don't understand how my entry would not meet the content guidelines, so if I just recreate the page we'd have the same issue again. And I'm concerned on having duplicates on Letterboxd then.

Well after having read the content guidelines, you should be able to come up with a reason it does meet the content guidelines. Can you come up with a reason?

Yeah there is no reason I can possibly find why my entry was deleted. I'd love to speak with a content moderator to explain why. It's definitely a mistake?

no I mean a positive reason (a reason why it should be included not a lack of reason for its deletion) for example:
reason 1: X is true about this movie. according to the rules X is allowed.

Yes of course, plenty of reasons. I mean it's a legit film with some high-profile names attached as well, it meets all the requirements.

"Legit" and "High-profile names attached" I dont believe are things that qualify an entry based on the rules. What requirements does it meet/what's one of those reasons?

As per guidelines, "Professional movies screened at a selective and relevant film festival"

Did you add that release date onto your movie entry? Including adding in the note what the name of the festival was? or at the very least was the information publically available when your entry was deleted that that movie was/would be screened at that selective and relevant film festival?
EDIT: If you didnt add that info or if that information wasnt publically available, perhaps thats the reason it was deleted?

Yes it must be that. It was compliant with the previous guidelines and it was approved over a year ago, but I wasn't notified of the new ones until it was deleted, so I couldn't rectify those information yet.

What do you mean it was approved over a year ago?

Yeah the title was approved and the page was up. It was deleted only a month ago.

I dont think any entry on this site gets "approved" unless Im misunderstanding what you mean. Its possible the it didnt belong in the database back when it was initially added too, there just wasnt a mod around that noticed it/got round to deleting it.
But now that apparently it will be screened at a selective/relevant film festival (assuming you are correct that that film festival would be considered a selective and relevant film fesitval) then it should be allowed now (and shouldnt get deleted) just make sure to add the release date and what festival it is on the "Note" section of the release date.

Just to add, I think the wording of that email could be improved to prevent misunderstandings: currently it can be read as 'new' content guidelines (giving an impression that the content guidelines have been updated), while actually those are guidelines that relate to 'new content'. The neeed for a professional release (film festival, theatrical etc) has been part of the guidelines for a very long time.
@JackSalvadori , if your film has a festival release, go ahead and re-add the entry (and make sure to include the release details in the "Notes" section of the release). Don't worry about that creating a duplicate on Letterboxd: once the new entry has imported, you can report a duplicate to the staff there, and they will merge the two pages, preserving the reviews.
