This is an issue that has been continuously discussed for over 10 years. If the premiere year is earlier than the theater release date, please set the official year of the film to the premiere year. Among all the world's movie information sites, TMDB is the only one that stupidly uses the theater release date later than the premiere year as the official year of the movie! I don't understand why this wonderful TMDB site still foolishly insists on only the year of theatrical release as the official year. At least try voting. Who really agrees with this foolish method?

Disagree, theatrical release should be the standard. Why do I care when it was released to the filmmakers and a handful of insiders, I care when it was released to the public.

I often find myself searching for the same movie title on other movie/TV sites, even including the movie year, and I realize that the year listed on TMDB doesn't work. And every time I do that, I try to search by adding or subtracting a year from the year listed on TMDB. Have you ever had a similar experience? Really? How useless is that? I don't want to argue about which date is more important. All dates have their own meaning. I just want to use the same year as other sites, not the unique Galapagos year of TMDB.
