Not sure if API, Content, or website...
Just curious about the PRIMARY designation on some movies for poster art, ie. Avatar, Boogie Nights, Contraband. Never noticed it before, but this week I had to rescrape my database for XBMC/KODI and anything with PRIMARY on it, it skips and uses the 2nd poster in the list.
Tried to find info, no luck... just wondered what that PRIMARY was all about? I remember recommending a feature where the site used the highest rated poster that was 2:3 as the main poster, because sometimes the highest rated poster is the wrong dimensions... is this sorta related to that?

Wow... talk about resurrecting an old thread, this is over a year old. Got a mini-flood of emails for it, forgot I even posted it.
Personally I'm not picky about what gets defaulted, new posters, original theatrical, fan made, whatever... so long as its 1.5:1 aspect ratio so doesn't look bad on my media server. :D

In addition, for those who using Kodi and prefers non-primary posters or backdrop you can always download manually via Artwork Downloader add-ons (which I believe is installed by default).

True, until you have to re-scrape an entire library of 1500 movies.

When can we expect this change? We are currently building a data set and would like our preferred posters to resemble the posters found on TMDb, so our clients do not get a poster they did not expect.

Hi @Pjarenee,
As I mentioned in my first reply, you can mimic the experience found here on TMDb by using the
poster_path
found on any of the detail/search/list methods. That will always return the same poster you see here, which takes into account the "primary" setting.Reply by THRobinson

Isn't this thread a year old?

I need assistance with a poster related issue. The primary poster for The Fetus that shows up on Letterboxd is the poster of the Crib but the official poster that my friend and director Joe Lam wants for the movie is the Lauren LaVera poster. How can we make this change here, so that is reflected on Letterboxd?
