Guy Ritchie's latest movie to be shot in Türkiye's Antalya

World-famous director Guy Ritchie's new movie "The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare," starring Henry Cavill and Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez will be shot in Antalya's botanical park and various other districts of the city.

The permission for shooting the movie was received last month and the movie crew started to set the plateau in the Antalya Exhibition Area (EXPO). Besides, the shooting is to take place in other districts such as Demre, Konyaaltı, Kemer, Alanya and Manavgat. Starting from January, the shooting will continue until April and the actors will stay in Antalya.

"The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" based on Damien Lewis' novel, is inspired by actual events. Cavill and Gonzalez will play the lead roles in Ritchie's new espionage movie set during World War II.

Ritchie and Arash Amel wrote the screenplay orbiting around a secret World War II organization created by then-British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond creator Ian Fleming.

Lionsgate Lands Domestic On Guy Ritchie’s WWII Pic ‘Ministry’; Prime Video Splashes On Key Int’l Markets For Pic From Jerry Bruckheimer & Black Bear As Filming Begins

As the European Film Market is set to kick off this week, Lionsgate has made a splash with the acquisition of domestic distribution rights to Guy Ritchie’s upcoming World War II movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

In another lucrative deal, pegged in the eight-figures, Prime Video has pre-bought a raft of international rights on the film and will distribute across Europe, Latin America, ANZ, Canada, South Africa, India and pan-Asian PayTV.

As Deadline first revealed, the buzzy cast includes Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Henrique Zaga, Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer, Cary Elwes, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun and Til Schweiger.

The film starts principal photography today [Monday Feb. 13] in Turkey and Lionsgate is targeting a 2024 wide theatrical release.

Following the devastating earthquake in the country, Ritchie and the producers commented: “As we begin production in Turkey, we do so with profound sympathy for everyone affected. Our thoughts are with the members of our crew with family in the region. We wish to express our sincere condolences to the people of Turkey. We stand by them and are committed to supporting members of our production team and the wider community over the coming weeks and months.”

Ministry, penned by Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson, Arash Amel and Ritchie, is based on war correspondent and military historian Damien Lewis’ book of the same name.

Hot on the heels of Top Gun: Maverick, which recently earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, super-producer Bruckheimer is producing alongside Chad Oman, Ritchie’s producing partner Ivan Atkinson, and John Friedberg for Black Bear International.

Executive producers include Scott Lastaiti, Olga Filipuk, Lewis, and Tamasy and Johnson. Black Bear International arranged the financing for the film and is handling worldwide sales, which will continue at the EFM.

Eda Kowan, John Biondo and Christopher Davis oversaw the acquisition and negotiation on behalf of Lionsgate. Jill Silfen led the deal for Black Bear International, and Sam Wollman and Jay Patel oversaw the deal for Prime Video.

“I have been fortunate enough to partner with Guy on a number of films over the years and he always delivers something that audiences crave – original, action-packed and entertaining theatrical experiences. I am delighted to be teaming up again to bring Ministry and its amazing cast to audiences,” said Adam Fogelson, vice chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.

“Ministry is precisely what cinemas need right now — larger-than-life entertainment with incredible talent on both sides of the camera and an unbelievable true story,” added Bruckheimer. “We are thrilled to partner with Adam and Lionsgate to bring this to theaters across the U.S., as well as our incredible international partners, including Prime Video.”

It was a very star-studded affair as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare filming took place on HMS Belfast on the Thames on Wednesday.

Eiza Gonzalez, Henry Cavill, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding and Babs Olusanmokun were all spotted shooting the new Guy Ritchie's movie.

Actress Eiza, 33, takes on her role as a 'military sniper with extraordinary spy-craft abilities' in the WWII spy film and was seen wearing a glamorous silver gown.

Elsewhere Henry, 39, dressed as a captain character in a long brown leather jacket and hat and sported a statement moustache.

That's a wrap! My days on Ungentlemanly Warfare are over. Tis a sad day. I'm going to echo the sentiments of my co-stars and sing the praises of our intrepid crew. It's rare to come across a team so driven, dedicated and committed to the storytelling. That drive and dedication is only intensified by having a leader such as Guy Ritchie. His ability to weave story and create character might be second to none, and he wields it like it were magic.

Those ingredients - skill, drive, and exceptional talent at the top, are only three of the ingredients needed for an experience that will last forever in memory. The fourth is happiness. Guy creates happiness on his set, it's a joyful place to be, full of laughter and japes and jests. The crew and cast's approach and personality is key in this. Everyone, without fail, was able to enjoy themselves while also working hard and being exceptional.

This wee pontification would not be complete without heaping praise upon my fellow actors. Alan Ritchson, the man mountain, with a heart of gold, and a wisdom and talent that can sweep you off your feet. Alex Pettyfer, the lover, the laugher, the warmth of a big smile and a jaw line that would challenge the Turkish mountains. Henry Golding Jnr, a snap quick acting reaction time, handsome beyond belief and always a man I was happy to see. And the last (but not the least) of my immediate team of misfits, Hero Fiennes Tiffin - a mega star in the making. I know a lot of you know him already, but my oh my he's going to have a magnificent career.

To the makers of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare I shall miss you all, and gods willing - see you soon.
