Sad news. He was a good actor, gone much too soon. The Emerald Forest, in which he had one of his rare higher-profile lead roles, is one of the finest films of the 1980s IMO.

I love that film. and agree totally. John Boorman directed. He also directed Deliverance. Incredible, beautiful film. Btw Boorman's son Charley, played Tommy, the taken boy.

Absolutely true. Boorman has made a number of fine films - as well as Deliverance I also like Excalibur and LOVE Hope & Glory.
Boorman jr.'s performance in The Emerald Forest is simply wonderful.

I always enjoyed his work. I liked him in Red Dawn as the fighter pilot who teaches the kids how to fight. "I need a drink!"
