Famous French author Alexandre Dumas (père), who wrote the novels "The Three Musketeers (1844)" and "The Count of Monte Cristo (1844-1846)", was the grandson of Marie-Cessette Dumas, an enslaved Black African woman in the French colony of Saint Domingue.
